Steve Johnson's City Of Ink opened studio doors on the 1st of April 2010 for business under the direction of the renowned man himself. Steve was one of New Zealand's most awarded tattooist, with 40 years of tattooing experience under his belt. Our journey in 2010 became an adventure due to the Christchurch earthquakes causing us to close business doors for 2 months. We never lost spirit, Steve continued to work hard and the other artists followed suit. The City of Ink crew were devastated on the 1st of April 2011 (our first birthday) when we lost Steve to a massive stroke. We strive to work with same ambition and skill that Steve possessed to ensure the studio lives up to his name.
